The Three Boars

We met at the Three Boars on a Thursday night this week. I was there 5 min late (alone) and had to stand awkwardly at the bar until the rest of the Food Club Jerks showed up. Luckily the staff were super friendly and offered me a menu and beer list while I waited. The space is pretty small so it's not easy to get a table (they only take reservations for 6 and since we have 2 members MIA there were only 5 of us). When we all finally got there we sat by the bar and and waited for a table.....which we never got......which was not a big deal. The bartender was great and chatted about beer (which we love) and let us try 'bitters' (which were gross) and gave fantastic beer suggestions. I really liked the Alley Kat Saison they had on tap! Food was kind of pricey with small portions meant to be shared but really tasty. Like really, really tasty. I am definitely going to take MIA food club member Jason there soon and plan to be a regular especially once they get their patio licensed!! ~ Penny

Bryan and I were the last to show up. No big surprise! I thought the atmosphere was very cosy, and while we wanted to sit on the patio, we were told we'd have to wait til the permit went through from the city later in the summer. All I can say is, hurry up permit! The patio looked lovely and I can see myself sitting on it enjoying one of their amazing beers and bites. Three Boars has a big ol' chalkboard with a listing of seasonal foods and beers. I noticed a beer listed for $30 and, of course, was curious. These were Lambic beers and are generally in wine sized bottles meant for sharing, but they did have a mini and I tried it. It was a very tangy sweet sour cherry type beer and definitely worth trying once or twice. For tasty foods we tried a seared steak which was fantastic and a very delicious crispy chicken dish as well. We'll be back, on the patio, for some Lambic and whatever is on the menu! *Tasha*
 
I caught a ride with Talia. She was driving Scott’s huge ass truck and it was difficult finding a spot for such a monstrous vehicle. After an attempt at parallel parking the beast on the left side of the road, I spotted a free spot at the meters next to Noorish. Phew! This is why we were late.

So we get to Three Boars and found out that the table that we were waiting for actually had been reserved. So like Penny said… we ended up sitting at the bar. It was pretty cool though. We ended up talking to the bartender lots about beer. He was super-knowledgeable and had some good suggestions. I was impressed that their selection was pretty different than the other local beer joints in town. The food was pretty amazing. I had the Devilled Eggs, Lamb Neck Pot Pie and their Vietnamese Sub. Coming from a Vietnamese family, I wanted to see what their take on the sub could be.  It was definitely the smallest Viet sub I’ve ever had, but also the fattiest, most delicious and most expensive sub I’ve ever had. Thumbs up! It was a great experience and I might just say that this is my new favorite restaurant in town. I would go back tomorrow.  T/T
